There are many romance-themed anime series available. Ones about high school romance, those with a lot of drama, those that are simply slice-of-life romance stories, and—possibly the most typical—those categorised as romance shoujo are all available.
1. Fruits Basket – Studio Deen
Based on the worldwide success of Natsuki Takaya’s manga series, Tohru Honda’s life is turned upside down when a tragedy forces her to interact with the Sohma family and their peculiar curse, which causes them to change into an animal from the Chinese zodiac when under duress or physical contact from the other sex. Although the relationships that Tohru forms with these twelve distinct personalities are endearing and touching in and of themselves, it is the love that develops and the love triangles that result from it that truly elevate this story to the level of an incredible romance.
2. Toradora – J.C. Staff
Based on Yuyuko Takemiya’s light novel series, opposites attract has never gone more awry. The motifs of the tiger vs. dragon are everywhere because Ryuji Takasu and Taiga Aisaka can’t tolerate one another, yet they have a thing for one other’s best friends. Everything goes about as well as you might expect. This romantic coming-of-age story about overcoming differences and going through transformation during that makes this one romance that’s a battle for the ages through the comedy, the conflicts, and the joyful mood.
3. Clannad – Kyoto Animation
Grab some tissues and get ready to cry yourself to sleep for the next few days with this visual novel adaptation from Key. We fans couldn’t have fallen in love more quickly thanks to this lovely, heartbreaking relationship… only to completely upend it, as well as our hearts. The coming-of-age story of Tomoya Okazaki, which is one of love, loss, and finding love once more, will ring in people’s ears for a very long time. Unless you have no empathy.
4 . Chobits – Madhouse
This manga adaptation of the world-famous CLAMP work, which depicts the love between a man and a machine, is still current and accurate. Chi is an abandoned computer that Hideki Motosuwa discovers and falls in love with during his often amusing, occasionally inappropriate, but always fascinating search for her origins. This is a truly postmodern love story that transcends barriers between two cultures and really gets readers to reflect, especially in this day of technology growth.
5. Sukitte Ii Na Yo (Say “I Love You”) – Zecxs
Mei Tachibana, a cynical girl who has abandoned relationships following a cruel betrayal from her old friends, and Yamato Kurosawa, the most popular boy in school who hasn’t shown much interest in anyone recently, star in this emotional roller coaster of a love story that is based on the manga by Kanae Hazuki. Some of us have had one or two too many unhealthy friendships and relationships, thus this romance hits close to home. However, it’s also worth persevering with the characters because of their depths.
6. Inu X Boku SS – David Production
This fantasy love comedy, which is loosely based on Cocoa Fujiwara’s well-known manga, offers a small but delightful taste of the greater picture. The Maison de’ Ayakashi, often known as the Ayakashikan, is the setting of the narrative. It is a very secure housing complex for the wealthy families of Japan who have part-demon children. Its newest resident, Ririchiyo Shirakiin, has Soushi Miketsukami as her secret service (SS) agent. It’s impossible to ignore the hijnks of his blatant love for her and the chaos of coexisting with the other tenants. It really is a shame that the anime does not continue with the development of the manga, which I highly recommend reading, because the romance is light but painfully obvious.
